Hi,

Joomla: 1.5.20 (with K2)
PHP: 5.2.4
Plg: Like and Share - 1.5.x.3.2
Plg: FB Comments - 1.5.x.2.2
URL: *** removed by editor ***

My problem:

I'm running both plugins, but with the javascript-version from the FB Comments (plg_javascriptsdk_1.5.x.1.zip). The Like and Share plugin had a javascript-version (1.5.x.2) which I did not install, as the Comment-plg stopped working after that.

Ok - so now I'm running the 2 plugins with one, shared javascript-SDK (perhaps a wrong/old). The Comments looks fine, the share seems fine too, but won't always share the picture from the article. The Like though is behaving strange. On every K2-article, the Like counter is showing the same number (as if the Like is counting likes for the site, and not the "article").

Hope it makes sense.

Oh - and the plugins are running with "Use ID" and "URL Encode = No".

Please advise,
Muchardt

hi,

javacriptsdk plugin is shared by all plugins, so better use the latest version recommended.

also paste debug text following this post: How to send Debug text.

Hi,

Sure thing. Please note that I have 2 plugins: Comments + Share/Like. Comments came with the SDK ver. 1.5.x.1 and Share/Like came with SDK ver. 1.5.x.2.

When I install the latest SDK (1.5.x.2), none of the plugins are shown. When I turn on debug on the Comments plugin, this is what is shown:

You should only use latest JavaScriptSDK plugin and not old version.

also what are you using to display Fanbox?

I totally agree and would love to use only latest SDK-plugin. Unfortunately the Comment-box didn't work after upgrading to latest SDK.

I'm using Fanbox from Joomlart (towards a Facebook Page ID). I have tried to disable the fanbox, but it had no effect on my problems.

Please let me know if you need a admin-access to my site.

a lot of user I come across have conflicts because they try to use fanbox from other resources so make sure to disable that and clear cache and then test.

also make sure that you have selected XFBML modes and JavaScriptSDK plugin is enabled. Do not use two JavaScriptSDK plugins as there should only be one plugin not two for SDK.

Allright - sounds fair.

One last thing - can you tell me if FB Comment plugin 1.5.x.2.2 is compatible with Javascript SDK ver. 1.5.x.2? (The plugin came with SDK ver. 1.5.x.1).

Thanks

yes, all of the extensions are tested with latest SDK plugin and latest version of SDK is recommended to be used.

Ok - did what you told me to do, and now I have only your plugins installed with the latest SDK. (Uninstalled other FB-modules).

[EDITED BY MUCHARDT] Correction: Comment-box works now and my "challenge" is narrowed down to one issue (for now :-) )

The Like doesn't seem to count correct. All the articles (K2) has the same amount (and persons) who likes the article.
[UPDATE]I seems as if the Like-counter works OK when I'm logged out of FB. The minute I login to FB, the Like-counter on my articles works un-expected.

I've inserted the Debug from the Comment-plugin below:

@zaheerkaka: When I take a look at the articles, every one of them has the same amount in the Like-counter.

Yes - the "I Like" works in that sense that you can press it and it does something. But it looks as if the number of likes are attached to the site and not the article?

Something doesn't work  Please advise.

One question: Do you recommend using the Like from the Comment-plugin? Or from the Like/Share plugin?

Cheers

Hi,

I had a look around on different pages and counter seems to be different. Can you show me two example pages where counter is same so I can test it. Also please clear cache of you joomla website and browser too.

Also choose same URL methods for both plugins in advanced settings.

One question: Do you recommend using the Like from the Comment-plugin? Or from the Like/Share plugin?
Both should work, share button does not come with comments plugin so if you prefer share you will need to use Like and Share for it features.

Hi zaheerkaka,

The counter is acting a bit weird when I look at it. When I look at one article (i.e. En vinter i himlen) the Like counter says 1.

When I look at another article (i.e. Freeride DM 2010) the Like counter says 1 as well.

But if I press Like at the Freeride-article, the Like buttons says "You Liked the Video from Hintertux" (which is another article Video fra Hintertux)?

And now the Freeride-article has a Like-counter of 2 (and so has the Video fra Hintertux-article)?

Hm... very strange. And yes, I have cleared the cache :-)

Please feel free to test the Like-counter on the K2-articles under K2 Blogs

Cheers,
Muchardt

the way facebook tracks Like is that it uses Unique URLs to keep track for counts. I am assuming some reason your blog is passing same URL to plugin on different pages.

Can you please turn on debug in advanced setting and copy paste the URL that will be shown in red text on the both pages you having problems so we can compare them.

Also please tell us what version of K2 you are using?

Hi,

Well ... I've created a little screendump to show you what happens. The screendump shows the following:

I open a Blog and the address show a (SEF) URL to the blog-item. When I press "I Like" on the Blog-item, it seems as if it is taking the URL (?) from another Blog-item.

In the right-hand side of the website, I have a list of "Latest Blogs". The Blog-item which the plugin "thinks" I like, is the bottom Blog-item.

Please see this screendump:
This image is hidden for guests. Please log in or register to see it.

Below you'll find the debug from the Like/Share plugin on the Blog-item in the sample above:

Seems for some reason your website only submits one URL to Facebook, I have had a look and settings seems to be okay.

Was you using some other Facebook extensions before Like and Share and Comments? May be some reason old URLs are cached in Facebook.

Yes - was using other FB-stuff before.

How do I empty "old URL's" from FB cache?

Or have you other solution to this strange behaviour?

Thanks in advance
