I am certain this was my error. I clicked on two of the Facebook Comments plugins at once and tried to uninstall them. I should have done it one at a time. I got an error message something like "Could not uninstall KA Framework".

The mod_kafacebooksocialcomments directory is still there. How might I go about manually uninstalling this plugin?

in 1.5 plugin files are located in
plugins/content/
plugins/system/
